Sightings & Maps

The recording of natural events, such as first leafing, first flowering, fruit ripening, first migrant birds seen has been studied in Europe for many years. ClimateWatch allows the public to collect scientifically valid data to study the effects of climate change on natural events. ClimateWatch is the largest study in the southern hemisphere.

We want to involve community groups, schools and individuals. You will be able to follow selected plant and animal indicators and submit your observations of life cycle and migration activities here. The information collected can be view here on the sightings maps.

Results

The ClimateWatch Sightings results will incorporate the data that you collect. They will be analysed by our scientists and their reports will be published here.

A list describing some of the different habitats that includes marine desciptions for you to use when making a recording. there is general information to help you when you go out into the field.

About the Sightings Map

The live map on this page shows all recorded sightings for all of our current indicator species.

To view sightings of individual plants and animals, go to the plants & animals section of our website and find the species you're interested in. A fact sheet page for each of our indicator species shows the sightings for that particular species.
